Themba Zwane deserves PSL football player of the season award 2019-20

Themba "Mshishi" Zwane narrowly lost out in winning the most illustrious football award in South African football in 2019 after Lorch won the PSL football player of the year award.

In the 2019-20 PSL season, Mshishi has been outstanding and the number one candidate for the PSL football player of the year award. Last season Lorch won the precious award after scoring 13 goals across all competitions(9 in the PSL league and 4 in the Telkom Knockout), and assisting in 8 goals, and helping his team reach the final of the Telkom Knockout Cup Final and finishing second on the log. This season, Mshishi has won the Telkom Knockout Cup, scored 10 goals in all PSL competitions(9 in the PSL league and 1 in the MTN 8), and assisted in 7 goals. Additionally, Mamelodi Sundowns is second on the log and has 9 games remaining. Sundowns is in a good position to win the 2019-20 PSL league and the Nedbank Cup.

Zwane has scored 9 goals in the PSL league, the highest by any midfielder. Remarkably, Zwane has achieved his 9 goals in 16 games due to being injured for the other 5 games played by Mamelodi Sundowns in the league. The Sundown football star has 5 goal assists in the PSL league which means he was involved in 14 goals in his 16 games. This would equal Gabadinho Mhango record of 14 goals in 21 games. Themba has managed a goal scoring average of 0.55 which is very high for a midfielder! Kevin De Bryune, one of the best midfielders in the world has achieved an average of 0.3 goals for the 2019-20 season.

Themba has also mastered the art of taking penalties with 4 goals from the penalty spot. Zwane is cool and composed at the penalty spot and has not missed a penalty this season.

The Thembisa born star has tough competition from Lebogang Manyama and Gabadinho Mhango. Manyama's performance has been consistent and he has been the reason why Kaizer Chiefs are top of the PSL log. Manyama has scored 6 goals and has assisted in 8 goals while Mhango has scored 14 goals and is the leading goal scorer of the PSL league. Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have not done well in other PSL tournaments this year.

The stats don't lie, Zwane has had the best season compared to any other player in the PSL. Teko Modise, "Themba Zwane is SA's best player after Doctor".

Do you think Themba "Mshishi" Zwane should win PSL player of the year award even if the 2019-20 season is canceled? Please leave your comments below.

This did not deter parents and their children. Parents, guardians (.i.e. local coaches) and children came in their numbers. Queues for trials started inside the school and ended a very long…
